Donald Trump insists he did not call Meghan Markle ‘nasty’ and blames ‘fake news’

Donald Trump has furiously denied calling Meghan Markle ‘nasty’ – despite an audio recording of the interview being release.

The US president spoke with The Sun just days before his UK State Visit – where the Duchess of Sussex will be too busy taking care of three-week-old son Archie to see him.

During the interview Mr Trump as told that Meghan “wasn’t so nice” about him during the 2016 US presidential campaign, to which he replied: “I didn’t know that. What can I say? I didn’t know that she was nasty.”

However the context of the quote means he may have been referring to her comments as ‘nasty’ and not that she was ‘nasty’ herself.

In a series of early morning tweets on Sunday, the US president said he “never called Meghan Markle nasty” and that the “Fake News Media” had invented his remarks.
