Chinese telecoms giants Huawei has hit out at President Donald Trump’s decision to blacklist its technology, saying it will “not make the US more secure or stronger” but will instead leave the country “lagging behind in 5G”.
Overnight Mr Trump issued an executive order declaring a “national emergency” over IT threats, giving the US commerce department the authority to stop transactions seen to pose a risk to security – a move widely seen as effectively a ban on Huawei.
In a double blow, the Chinese company was also added to Washington’s “entity list”, which will see it prevented from buying components from US companies without government approval……..read more
