Madonna cancels three Boston concerts: ‘The pain I’m in right now is overwhelming’

No matter how much she wants to perform, Madonna, 61, is putting her health first.

The “Like a Virgin” songstress took to Instagram Wednesday to announce she’s canceled some of her upcoming shows to “rest and follow doctor’s orders” following “overwhelming pain.”

According to Madonna’s website, the singer has canceled her Madame X Tour performances for Saturday, Sunday and Monday night at The Boch Center Wang Theater in Boston.

Due to “tight scheduling,” the canceled performances will not be rescheduled, the website says (refunds will be issued automatically to credit cards on which tickets were ordered).

“Please forgive this unexpected turn of events,” Madonna wrote, not mentioning the specific ailment. “Doing my show every night brings me so much joy and to cancel is a kind of punishment for me. But the pain I’m in right now is overwhelming and I must rest and follow doctors orders so i can come back stronger and better.”

This is not the first time the pop icon has had to cancel a performance for health reasons. On Oct. 7,she alerted fans on social media she would not be able to perform that night in Brooklyn due to a knee injury.

The singer also postponed the beginning of her Madame X Tour. While she was originally scheduled to kick off shows at the Brooklyn venue on Sept. 12, the beginning of the tour was pushed back as a result of the highly specialized production elements being delayed.
