A widow probed for accompanying her terminally ill husband to Dignitas has told MPs “compassion is not a crime” as she bids to change laws on assisted dying.
Ann Whaley faced a police investigation for allegedly helping motor neurone disease sufferer Geoffrey, 80, end his suffering on his own terms.
And she has now spoken out as she leads a campaign to convince Justice Secretary David Gauke to rethink the UK’s blanket ban on assisted dying.
It comes after Mr Gauke revealed he is “in favour” of relaxing laws.
